The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has strained the material supply chains, enforced social distancing and has evoked new preventive measures while diagnosing or treating patients. We, at Center for Innovation, L V Prasad Eye Institute have put forward our open sourced initiatives to help our medical and front line workers during the pandemic care.
Open Source VISOR
An open resource to make your own DIY low cost visor (full-face protective gear) for doctors and front line workers during pandemic care.
Ultraviolet DECONTAMINATION
Developed a decontamination process using ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) to decontaminate the face shields, retinoscope barriers and other protective units which are being used by our hospital staff. UVC light (254 nm) can quickly eliminate a wide variety of viruses, bacteria and harmful pathogens in a short cycle time.

ANESTHESIA SHIELD
Aerosol generating procedures like administering the inhalation anesthesia via tracheal intubation to the patients in an intensive care setting poses a critical risk to healthcare workers specially to the Anesthetists. SLIT LAMP SHIELD
A slit lamp is a microscope with an illumination module used by an Optometrist or an Ophthalmologist. It is an essential diagnostic device used in day to day routine of the eye work up. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has evoked many preventive measures to be taken to avoid its transmission in the eye care practices. Adding Slit Lamps Shields in your practice can reduce the risk of the virus transmission.
